Exercise 11.1
A point is on the x-axis. What are its y-coordinate and z-coordinates?
Any point on the x-axis lies on both the XY-plane and the XZ-plane simultaneously.
A point on the x-axis has the form (x, 0, 0): its perpendicular distance from the ZX-plane is 0 (so y = 0) and its perpendicular distance from the XY-plane is 0 (so z = 0).
Answer: The y-coordinate and z-coordinate are both 0.
